About Me

Hi, I’m Samantha!

Nice to meet you, I’m Samantha Potter.

I am a Canadian home decor and DIY blogger, mom to my daughters Sloane and Sawyer, and wife to my husband McGregor.

About Samantha Potter Home

Being a homebody at heart, this space had to encompass everything that is home to me. Whether it be where to snag the most affordable throw blanket, bedside table styling tips, how to make your dream space come to life through DIY, or how to cook the most amazing, yet simple meal, I’m here to help.

I’m also here to share everything from the perfectly completed project, to the total failure of a plan. But most importantly, I’m here to guide you and help inspire you to create a home you love to spend time in.

Learn The Important Stuff

Home Style: Warm neutrals, collected, transitional, modern. Basically livable beautiful spaces

Outfit Choice: Matching lounge set or jeans and an oversized button-up

Meal Choice: A big ‘ol bowl of carbonara

Most Requested Drink: It’s a tie – champagne or a margarita

Can’t Live Without: My morning tea or my insanely soft robe… maybe both

Must-Have Tool: Circular saw – it can do it all

Guilty-Pleasure: Real Housewives of NYC

Real-Life Superpower: streamlining processes and creating efficiencies

Celebrity BFF: Jason Bateman (he just doesn’t know it yet). We both hate the smell of mildew and won’t travel anywhere that’s not nicer than our homes.

Home Decor Guilty-Pleasure: Throw blankets. There is no such thing as too many.

Samantha Potter Home History

I started this blog in 2020, following my daughters open heart surgeries and after COVID changed the world.

This space has evolved from predominately a food blog to focus more on DIY and home decor. DIY was something I never imagined I could tackle but the moment I picked up my first power tool and realized every update I was imagining in our builder-grade home were ones I could make on my own changed the course of my life. I began to gain confidence in my abilities and using power tools. The bonus is that our home, although always a work in progress, is now becoming unique to us and can be exactly what we envision.

But, don’t worry if you’re here for the food – it still has a big home on this blog.

No matter what has drawn you in, I’m honoured you’re here.
