I've been dreaming of getting myself a cast-iron skillet since the start of COVID - probably for longer, but that's when the true desire really kicked in! There is something so perfect and versatile about a skillet. When I say that, I'm thinking of endless opportunities for one-skillet recipes; whether it be breakfasts, dinners, or desserts, I could sit here and easily come up with 20 ideas to make in this one glorious skillet.

It's FINALLY starting! My Holiday Gift Guide for 2020. Here is how it will go down: each week, I will release 1-2 new categories of guides for you to indulge in. I tried really hard to get a full guide out today, but honestly, it's a ton of work pulling together very curated items and re-learning how to use various computer programs. So instead, it'll be a slow trickle from now until the first week of December. This way, I can still focus on giving you great products for everyone on your list. This week is stocking stuffers and big gifts. I really hope this provides you some inspiration for your loved ones.

It's November 3rd, and here I am talking about my 2020 holiday decor already. This one can go down in history as the earliest EVER I've started pulling out my holiday stuff. This is shocking considering last year was the first year I even considered buying holiday decor items. I mentioned it in my D.I.Y Halloween bats and in my fall front door decor posts, but I'm usually not one to be decorating for the seasons or holidays. Look at how having a kid has changed me so.

Another week, another Sun-D.I.Y this time, we finally got around to making our D.I.Y canvas frame that you voted you wanted to see! I'm so so so happy with the way it turned out. Oh, if you were following along on Instagram and voted, black actually beat out light grey, but McGregor wanted light grey. I figured since this D.I.Y abstract black and white art was actually for him for our anniversary, he should get to pick.

Okay, for those of you who follow both the blog and my IG, you may have voted on what you wanted to see for this week's Thursday's Three. I was a little shocked to see most people asking me for fashion! But I'm so here for it. I also guess you guys enjoy it when I stick to a theme for the week! I struggled for a while re what type of fashion post to give you. I eventually decided since I'm a pretty basic (okay, maybe we can call it classic LOL) person when it comes to fashion, I should stick to my classics and share my top fall / winter wardrobe staples.

I've been totally stuck in a "mom fashion" rut from basically late-pregnancy until a month or so ago. It all started when I wasn't comfortable in even maternity clothes anymore; I eventually stopped caring and started wearing Lulu's to work. After Sloane was born, there were approximately zero reasons for me to get dressed into something respectable because I was bound to get puked on, sh*t on, or peed on. Not much has changed, to be honest. Instead of puke, sh*t, or pee, it's likely tomato sauce, crushed up crackers, or snot. What has changed is my desire for self-care. I've started realizing that dressing in sweatpants ALL of the time was detrimental to my mood. I notice a positive difference in myself and how I feel if I throw on a little make-up, brush (or blow-dry on a good day!) my hair, and get dressed in real people clothes!

Apparently, I stay on weekly trends - something I can totally get on board with; one theme a week. This week is all things toddler-related... You know, since Thursday's Three was all about toddler activities and now this week's D.I.Y is for the toddlers! Sun-D.I.Y = D.I.Y Ring Toss for Toddlers.  When it comes to selecting Sloane's toys, I tend to gravitate towards wooden toys (or toys made of 'natural' items). Not only because they are prettier but also because they are said to help promote imagination. I won't pretend that part of the reason doesn't include the fact that I don't love the noisy toys (not saying she doesn't have any because she has her fair share!), but there's a balance to be had.

Holy smokes, how are we basically at the end of October?! Can you believe October local love is here and that local love is something Jenny and I started three months ago now?! Despite being trapped in lockdown for the past seven months, time is flying. The past seven months have shifted our mindsets and have forced us to start thinking in different ways. We've become more entrepreneurial, more focused, more grateful for our families, and more aware of what is happening to local businesses in Canada.  While COVID is such a horrible thing to be happening, and there are so many negatives, there are still many positives with it. One of our positives is how much we have shifted our mindset and focused our efforts. Right now, we know that COVID has hit our local brands hardest, which is why we've been focusing our shopping efforts here.
